Oh. My. God.

So. Husband and I were discussing Polygamy. Here is more or less how our conversation went:

Him: "Well, how can I split up all the sweet things I do for you?"
Me: "Well, say you picked me up my favorite candy on the way home from work, you'd just pick up a piece of her favorite candy too."
Him: "Well, what if I only had enough money for one piece of candy?"
Me: "Then you could just get one piece of something that we were both fond of, but was not either of our favorite candy. That way it's fair and we can share it. Like we'd be sharing you!" (I said the last sentance as a joke. Really, we'd all be sharing each other. I'm interested in a triad type of relationship, as opposed to the V relationship. I always thought I had made myself clear to him about this....)

Him: "I just can't see how I'd do it. I couldn't split up days between you two. I couldn't have one day be yours and one hers. That is not the life for me."

An interjection, if I may, before my response to him:

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH! NO! Somewhere along the line, wires were obviously crossed. I was under the impression I'd made my specific interests clear. We'd all be in a relationship together. We would have separate time as needed, but overall, we'd all just yanno. Relationship. Good times, bad times, stupid movies, chillin' on the couch, painting, writing, reading, messin' around online, playing a game, kids(big maybe), parents, family, fighting, sniping, raging, disagreeing, death, disfigurement, coma. The whole nine yards, all experienced together. Seems he thought more like a V relationship. A very separate V relationship.

Fin!

Me: "What?! No! No no no! Of course, there are times when one of us would need one on one time with another. That is understandable. I don't want hella separation though. I want all of us to be together, sharing a home, sharing meals, life, love. Etcetera. I would love her as I love you, and she would love me as she loved you, and you would love us both as we'd love you. "
*Suddenly, gears and mechanics started to turn in his head, and I smelt burning metal.*
Him: "Ohhh...you two would be in love too."
Me: "Yes! And you and I would be in love and she and you would be in love."
Him: "Hmm. But what if you loved me less in loving her? And what if I loved you less"
Me: "I don't think that would happen. It's like this dude on that forum said, 'you have two candles on a table, you add another, and it just makes more light. It doesn't diminish what was already there.'" *Note: I was totally paraphrasing there, and I hold the Hubbmaster this.
Him: "Hmmm. I see. That makes sense."

Then we arrived at our destination and the conversation ended. But it ended with his gears spinning and clanking.

And at least a misconception was cleared up!
